Purchase, NY (Sept. 27, 2018) – The Purchase College women's volleyball team dominated Medgar Evers to the tune of a 3-0 sweep Thursday night at home.

The Panthers earned their second win of the season in the process. Purchase won 25-16, 25-20, 25-11. Medgar is now 1-11.

Purchase captain Joetta Francis (JR/New York, NY) and standout newcomer Sommer Code (FR/Bronx, NY) shared the team lead in kills with five. Gia Gwin (FR/Yonkers, NY) also performed well in the victory, adding four kills.

The Panthers started strong and played their best in the second and third sets, respectively. The team scored 10 kills and hit .292 in the final set en route to the sweep.

Libero Skyla Schoppmeyer (FR/Oakdale, NY) added eight aces and powered the serve. Defensive specialist Isis Gonzalez (JR/New York, NY) was also on point, registering six digs and one block on the evening. Schoppmeyer starred defensively, as well, contributing a team-best eight digs. Grace Ann Gropp (FR/Webster, NY) and Karina Medina (FR/Brooklyn, NY) also played well.

Medgar was led offensively by Shania Laguerre, who totaled six kills. In the loss, Karina Bazard added nine assists and 13 digs.
