Robison Hat Trick Fuels Purchase Victory

Panthers Net First Win of 2018 Against CNR, 9-1

Purchase, NY (Sept. 28, 2018) – Charged by a Brett Robison hat trick, the Purchase women's soccer team netted their first win of the 2018 season against the College of New Rochelle Friday night. The host Panthers downed the visiting Blue Angels, 9-1.

Purchase is now 1-5 overall, while CNR drops to 0-2 in defeat.

Robison (Franklin Square, NY) got things started for the home team seconds after the opening whistle. The Panther midfielder knocked in a cross from teammate Allie Scarpa (SO/Vineland, NJ) at 0:24 for her first goal of the season.

In the seventh minute, standout rookie Rebecca Colgan (FR/Valley Stream, NY) pushed the Panther lead to 2-0 with a great individual performance. Colgan dribbled into the box and ripped a shot from the top of the 6-yard box and past Blue Angel goalkeeper Alexandria Knight.

Robison went on to score the third and fourth goal for Purchase at 15:18 and 16:01, respectively. She secured her hat trick off a pass from Colgan that came through the CNR defense.

CNR's Julia DiCioccio got the visiting team up on the board with a successful penalty kick at 21:06. The goal was a collegiate first for the Blue Angel rookie.

The Panthers answered back with a goal less than 40 seconds later. Colgan found the back of the net off a breakaway, recording her second goal of the game and third for the season.

At the half, Purchase led 5-1 with a 26-3 advantage in shots (18-3 on net).

The Panthers scattered another four goals from four different players in the second stanza.  Astrella Dacosta (JR/Croton-on-Hudson, NY), Brianny Marin (FR/Port Chester, NY), Breann McKeon (SR/Staten Island, NY) and Ashley Blom (JR/Bethpage, NY) each recorded their first goal of the season in a combined effort that afforded Purchase its first win of 2018.

In addition to her first goal of the season, Blom recorded her first collegiate win in goal. The sophomore netminder tallied two saves in 86 minutes of action.

Purchase returns to its home turf on Oct. 3 for a 6 p.m. game against Skyline Conference foe Farmingdale State.
