New York, NY
(Sept. 1, 2018) – Purchase men's soccer opened the season Saturday at Randall's Island, falling 1-0 in a tough non-conference matchup with John Jay.
Despite six saves from keeper
Jordan Meade (SO/Olivebridge, NY), the hosts used their lone goal to come away with the one. In the 16th minute, John Jay's Nicholas Towler found the back of the net for the eventual game winner. Through the first 45 minutes, his brother, Steven Towler, made four saves.
In the second half, the guests intensified the pressure, but the Bloodhounds' backfield consistently cleared the box. S. Towler finished with five saves for his second career shutout.
John Jay outshot the Panthers by a margin of 14-8.
The Panthers are back in action Wednesday in their home opener against Albertus Magnus. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
