Purchase, NY
(Sept. 5, 2018) – Albertus Magnus College prevailed in overtime Wednesday night at Purchase, spoiling the Panthers' home opener, 2-1.
Emmanuel Yeboah netted his first goal of the season in the 95th minute to seal the victory, sending the visitors to their first win of the season. The thru pass, dribble and shot from the Top 6 came courtesy of Abdul Aremu, who scored the game's first goal in the 39th minute of the first half.
Albertus Magnus (1-2) got on the board first behind Aremu, who actually scored the mark off an assist from the game's hero, Yeboah.
Purchase (0-2) responded in the second half on a goal from
Yianni Amvrosiatos (SR/Warwick, NY) – his first of the fall. The score came from outside the 18 on an assist from
Thomas Browne (SO/Carle Place, NY).
But Albertus held off Purchase's charge, which included outshooting the visitors, 25-18, for the contest.
The Panthers will look to bounce back Friday at home, welcoming the City College of New York to the campus for a 4 p.m. start.
NOTES: Freshman student Arianna Pappas performed a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, singing and playing the guitar in the pregame announcements … the turf field complex also introduced its brand new speaker system on the press box.
