Mount Saint Mary College Outlasts Purchase, 5-4

PURCHASE, NY - The Purchase College women's tennis team suffered a tough loss Saturday afternoon, as the Panthers fell to the Knights of Mount Saint Mary College, 5-4.

With the defeat, the Panthers were officially eliminated from the Skyline Conference playoff picture and are now 2-9 overall and 2-5 in the Skyline. As for the Knights, the guests improved to 6-6 and 3-3 respectively.

The #1 doubles duo of Bianca Harris (SO/Montgomery, NY) and Raquelle DeCicco (JR/Kingston, NY) secured the first win of the day for the Panthers, as the pair outlasted Mount Saint Mary, 8-7 (8-6).

Afterwards, both Harris and DeCicco secured wins in singles play, as Harris rallied back to take her #1 match, 5-7, 6-4, 10-5. DeCicco had an easier time at #2, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. 

The other Purchase win on the afternoon came courtesy of #3 singles, Sonja Boyko (FR/Babylon, NY). Boyko, just like Harris, rallied from a first frame defeat to win her contest in three sets. Set scores for the contest were 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. 

Up next for the Panthers is the 2019 season finale, as the team travels to Brooklyn, NY to take on Pratt Institute. That match is set to begin at 11 a.m. tomorrow (10/20).
