Panthers Dealt Shutout Loss

PURCHASE, NY – The Purchase College women's soccer team was looking to register another Skyline Conference win, but league foe Mount Saint Vincent scored once in the opening half and tacked on two more after the break to post a 3-0 victory over the Panthers on Monday night.

In defeat, Purchase dropped to an even .500 (7-7) on the season and 3-6 in the Skyline. The Dolphins improved to 6-7-2 overall and 3-5-1 in the league.

CMSV came out aggressive to begin the game and really pushed the pace in its attacking third. The Dolphins put together 11 shots in the opening 45 minutes, having success on one at 34:46 to take a 1-0 lead. Cristina Britton broke the scoring ice off the assist from Emily McCarthy.

Purchase senior goalkeeper Amber Yarter (Albany, NY) was put to work early, recording five saves in the first half.

It was a tough go for the Panther offense in the second half as the team registered just two shots over the final 45 minutes of play. Despite a valiant effort by the defense, Purchase surrendered another two goals en route to the 3-0 upset.

Britton and Emily McCarthy each scored for Mount in the second half, while Grace Barry and Paulina Mandujano notched the assists, respectively.

Purchase will conclude its regular season play at SUNY Old Westbury on Wednesday. The Skyline matchup is slated for 3:30 p.m.
