PATCHOGUE, NY - The Purchase College women's tennis team was defeated by St. Joseph's College-Long Island Saturday afternoon, 9-0, in a Skyline Conference match.
With the result, the Panthers are now 2-6 overall and 2-2 in the Skyline.
Despite the final score heavily in favor of St. Joseph's, Purchase played well on the afternoon. The guests came extremely close to winning a handful of contests on the day, before the Golden Eagles secured them at the last moment.
One such loss came at #1 doubles, where
Bianca Harris (SO/Montgomery, NY ) and
Raquelle DeCicco (JR/Kingston, NY) were outlasted by the score of 8-7 (7-5).
DeCicco then suffered another tough defeat, this time at the #2 singles spot, falling to her opponent 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (16-14).

Sonja Boyko (FR/Babylon, NY) and #5 singles
Nicole Sliwinski (JR/Newington, CT) lost their matches in three sets as well, with Boyko's loss also coming in the form of a third-set tiebreaker.
As for the Golden Eagles, who won the Skyline Conference Championship last season over the Panthers, the team now sits at 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
Up next for the Panthers is more Skyline Conference action, as the team travels down the road to face Manhattanville College. That match is set for October 15th at 4 p.m.
