Men's Basketball Beaten by Neumann

ALLENTOWN, PA - The Purchase College men's basketball team was defeated by Neumann University on day one of the Scotty Wood Tournament Friday, falling by the score of 75-50.

With the result, the Panthers dropped to 0-4 on the year, while the Knights of Neumann University improved to 3-2 overall.

Purchase started the contest hot, scoring the first seven points, while converting its first four shots. Later in the first half, the Panthers' lead grew to its biggest of the night, 20-8, with 13 minutes remaining in the frame, as the guests looked well on their way to their first win of the season.

However, the Knights had other ideas.

Over the next ten minutes, Neumann outscored Purchase, 23-10, to grab its first lead of the contest at 31-30. The Knights maintained that advantage into the halftime break, leading 37-35.

In the second half, shooting woes plagued the Panthers and allowed the Knights to build a double-digit lead early on. In the end, Purchase was held to a season-low 50 points on 33% shooting.

Elijah Harris (SR/Flushing, NY) led the Panthers with 13 points, three rebounds and three assists. Maxx Miller (SR/White Plains, NY) chipped in nine points, while Andre Peguero (JR/Boynton Beach, FL) grabbed 11 rebounds in the effort.

For Neumann, Waheem Lowman (SR/Philadelphia, PA) led all scorers with 18 points, as the team finished with four players in double figures.

Up next for the Panthers is day two of the Scotty Wood Tournament, which is being hosted by Muhlenberg College. Purchase will either take on the hosts or Bryn Athyn at 3 p.m. tomorrow (11/23). You can follow that contest right here.
