Purchase, NY (Mar. 10, 2019) – The Purchase College men's lacrosse team suffered a 13-7 non-conference setback against the visiting Broncos of SUNY Delhi Sunday afternoon.
The loss drops the Panthers to 1-2 on the young season. Delhi moves to 2-2 overall.
Junior attacker
Dan Ohrem (Ridgefield, CT) paced the Purchase offense with three goals, marking his second-consecutive hat trick this season and 10th goal in just two games. Sophomore midfielder
Zach Zarrella (Leominster, MA) added two goals and caused two Delhi turnovers. Sophomore midfielder
Ben Erkan (Bellport, NY) and freshman attacker
Christian Ishoo (Tarrytown, NY) completed the Purchase scoring with one goal apiece.

Tyler Kehoe (Red Hook, NY) led the team in attacks (2), while freshman midfielder
Joseph Ely (North Salem, NY) caused two turnovers and picked up a team-best five ground balls.
Junior netminder
Matt Sayegh (Hopewell Junction, NY) suffered the loss despite shutting down 12 Bronco attempts. Sayegh stands at 1-2 overall.
Delhi was led by John Rohan III, who tallied four goals and two assists. Travis Biggs posted three goals and three assists, while teammate Malik Talbert contributed three goals and one assist off the bench.
Bronco goalie Travis Anderson (2-2) was tagged with the win after collecting an impressive 17 saves.
Purchase jumped out to an early lead as Ohrem scored the first of his three goals less than two minutes after the opening whistle. Delhi evened the score with a Rohan goal at the 11:46 mark, and later took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Biggs.
With less than five minutes remaining, Ohrem connected on a pass from Kehoe to level the game 2-2.
Both teams exchanged goals in the final minutes. Erkan connected at 2:20 to tie the game at 3-all but Delhi would close the quarter out in front, 4-3.
Purchase used back-to-back goals from Ohrem and Zarella to come back from a two-point deficit in the second quarter. The rally was snapped minutes later though as Delhi took back a lead it would carry for the remainder of the game.
The Bronco defense held Purchase to a scoreless third quarter, while combining for four goals over the 15-minute stanza.
The Panthers connected on two shots in the final quarter but could not hold off the opposing offense. Delhi sealed the victory with two goals, just 10 seconds apart, in the final minutes.
