Men's Volleyball Silences Pratt, 3-0

Purchase, NY (Mar. 8, 2019) – The Purchase College men's volleyball team used a 3-0 sweep (25-19, 25-9, 25-14) to take down the Pratt Institute tonight its second straight win.

In the first set, Purchase (4-12) opened with a 6-0 run. The Panthers held the Falcons to single-digit scoring in the stanza. They closed the 25-9 set on a Jeremiah Huntt (FR/Bronx, NY) ace.
 
Both teams exchanged scores to open the second set. Purchase eventually jumped out in front with six unanswered points, capped by a Luke Kubisch (SR/Delmar, NY) ace that forced a Falcon timeout. Purchase's Joe Higgins (FR/College Point, NY) notched a kill to close the set, 25-19, in favor of the Panthers.
 
PC continued to dominate in the final set. A Kubisch kill opened the scoring and gave Purchase a lead that it never relinquished. The Panthers combined for a .250 hitting percentage en route to the 25-14 set win.
 
Kubisch paced the Panther offense with nine kills on 13 attempts without a single error (.692%). Andreo Otiniano (SR/Mamaroneck, NY) also had a notable night with a game-best 17 assists and nine aces, to go along with five kills on seven attempts (.714%).
 
Thomas Slomka (JR/Orchard Park, NY) recorded five kills on seven attempts without a single error (.714%), while Higgins and Huntt chipped in with three kills apiece. Matthew Waterhouse (FR/Massapequa Park, NY) recorded one kill on the night and Joey Dyckman (FR/Verplank, NY) was runner-up on the team with five aces.
 
The Panthers return to action on Wednesday (Mar. 13) when they battle Lehman College in a non-conference match starting at 6 p.m.
