Men's Lacrosse defeated by Farmingdale State in Skyline Game

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team lost to Farmingdale State, 15-3, in a Skyline Conference matchup Saturday.

The Rams (10-3 overall, 3-0 Skyline) scored the first six goals of the game and held the Panthers (5-5, 0-3 Skyline) off the scoreboard until 10:07 remained in the opening half.

Following a goal for the visitors, Purchase College sophomore Ben Erkan (Bellport, NY) proceeded to win the face off, pick up the ground ball and immediately sprint toward Farmingdale's net. Before either side knew what was happening, Erkan charged up and unleashed a shot that easily beat the keeper to get the the hosts on the board.

From there, Farmingdale held Purchase scoreless the rest of the half, while adding three tallies to enter the break up, 9-1. In the second half, the Rams outscored the Panthers, 6-2, to earn the win.

The two second-half goals came on beautiful team plays by the Panthers, as Isaac Aguero (SR/Bronx, NY) opened the scoring in the third period on a feed from Dan Ohrem (JR/Ridgefield, NY). The hosts' final goal came at the end of the third, as Dylan Gethicker (SR/Lime Lake, NY) scored off an assist from Ohrem.

While the Panthers won the face off battle on the day, 10-9, Farmingdale won all the other major categories. Joseph Ely (FR/North Salem, NY) powered Purchase in the effort, as he went 7-for-11 on face offs. He also added six ground balls. In goal, Matt Sayegh (JR/Hopewell Junction, NY) finished with 16 saves for the hosts.

James Ragland (SR/Seaford, NY) scored a game-high five goals to lead the Rams.
