Early Run Propels OW Past Purchase

OLD WESTBURY, NY – Purchase College was unable to rebound from a slow start in Saturday's 18-5 Skyline Conference road setback to SUNY Old Westbury inside Panther Park.

Old Westbury (3-9, 2-2 Skyline) went on an 8-0 run to open the first half, led by Alessia Drevnyak with four goals.

Purchase (1-7, 0-4 Skyline) recorded its first at the hands of sophomore midfielder Maddy Mecca (Oceanside, NY) at 16:14. Sophomore midfielder Gabriella Castles (Bethpage, NY) got two more past Old Westbury goalie Tazmeya Allen (3-9) to trim the deficit to seven (10-3) before Jessica Pedroza and Hope Matthews combined for two goals over the final 4:26 to send a 12-3 game into the break.

Yaritza Caraballo completed her second-career hat trick less than 20 seconds into the second half before Natasha Treuman netted home back-to-back tallies at 26:52 and 23:53, respectively.

Senior attacker Danielle Sarubbi (Brooklyn, NY) netted her first goal of the season and fourth in the game for PC with 19:49 remaining to make it a 15-4 game.

Over the final 11:28, Treuman provided a feed to Fonseca as she buried her first-career goal before Treuman took it herself to settle the 18-5 final.

Allen made five saves to secure Old Westbury's win as Panther netminder Brianna Pirozzi (JR/Staten Island, NY) stopped seven shots in defeat for Purchase.
