RIVERDALE, NY – The Purchase College men's volleyball team secured its first-ever Skyline postseason home match after sweeping a league tri-match at the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Sunday. The Panthers downed the host Dolphins, 3-0, and later battled Yeshiva University to a 3-1 victory in the final two matches of the regular season.
Purchase caps its regular season record at 12-15 overall and 7-3 in the Skyline. The pair of wins push PC's win streak to five as the Panthers make program history as the No. 2 team in the league. The team is set to host No. 3 St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) in the Skyline Semifinals this Thursday at 7 p.m.
Game One: Purchase 3, CMSV 0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-19)
Junior middle blocker
Thomas Slomka (Orchard Park, NY) led the Panthers with 10 kills and four blocks (2 solo) in the win over the Dolphins. Senior outside hitter
Luke Kubisch (Delmar, NY) smashed an impressive .429 attacking percentage with nine kills off 14 attempts with just three errors, while freshman right side hitter
Jeremiah Huntt (Bronx, NY) drove in seven kills, two aces and a pair of blocks.
Junior setter
Andreo Otiniano recorded every assist for Purchase, finishing with a combined 25 over the three sets.
The Panthers held CMSV to -.062 hitting in the match and totaled 11 service aces in the convincing 3-0 sweep.
Game Two: Purchase 3, Yeshiva 1 (25-20, 25-23, 25-27, 26-24)
Purchase faced the tougher of its two opponents in the latter match on Sunday. After notching wins in the first two sets (25-20, 25-23), the Panthers took the loss in the third after battling Yeshiva to a 27-25 upset. Purchase bounced back in the fourth set and worked its way to a 26-24 triumph.

Thomas Palko (Southington, CT) and freshman attacker
Joey Dyckman (Verplanck, NY) paced the Panther defense with 15 digs apiece. Otiniano chipped in with 10 digs, while also leading all scorers with a season-best 42 assists. Slomka netted a career-best eight blocks, including three solo performances.
Kubisch and Huntt continued to fuel the offense in game two with a combined 36 kills (18 ea.). Huntt also put up a notable four blocks (2 solo) and nine digs.
The Panthers hit .158 as a team, while holding the Maccabee offense to just .031 for the match.
