Panthers Return to Winning Ways

Robison and Colgan fuel Purchase's 9-0 sweep over Yeshiva

NEW YORK, NY – The definition of dynamic duo was on display for the Purchase College women's soccer team at Randall's Island Field Thursday night. Senior midfielder Brett Robison and sophomore forward Rebecca Colgan combined for six goals in the Panthers' 9-0 Skyline Conference victory over Yeshiva University.

With the win, Purchase advances to 4-2 overall and an even 1-1 in the league.

Colgan (Valley Stream, NY) opened up the with a goal at 17:11 off a through ball from junior defender Gabby Castles (Bethpage, NY). Colgan found the back of the net again immediately following a cross from freshman defender Lauren Pudelka (Danbury, CT). Two minutes later, freshman Michelle Gomez (Oceanside, NY) delivered a perfectly placed corner kick to Robison (Franklin Heights, NY), who tipped in a shot to extend Purchase's edge to 3-0.

Senior tri-captain Brianna Pirozzi (Staten Island, NY) capped the first half scoring with a goal at 44:44. The Panther forward received a pass from sophomore defender Brianny Marin (Port Chester, NY) and beat the Maccabee goalkeeper in a one-on-one faceoff.

At the end of the first half, Purchase led Yeshiva 4-0.

Fired up for the final 45 minutes, PC recorded five goals from four different players. Marin, Colgan and Pirozzi each scored one goal apiece along with another two from Robison.

Colgan recorded one assist along with the hat trick to tally an impressive seven points in a single game. Robison's hat trick was a season-first for the tri-captain.

Purchase held an advantage in shots (35-4) along with an edge in corner kicks (13-1).

Senior netminder Amber Yarter (Albany, NY) earned two saves in the win.

Up next, the Panthers head to neighboring Manhattanville College for a Skyline Conference game hosted by the Valiants this Saturday (Sept. 28) at 1 p.m.
