PURCHASE, NY – On a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon at neighboring GoValiants.com Field, the Purchase women's soccer team (4-3) suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of league foe Manhattanville College (4-4).
Panther sophomore
Rebecca Colgan (Valley Stream, NY) registered the first goal of the game in the 20th minute after connecting on a through ball from teammate
Brett Robison (SR/Franklin Square, NY). Colgan sliced through the Valiant defense and blasted a shot past the approaching Alexa Pyatsky and into the back of the net.
Purchase held the 1-0 advantage until the 33rd minute when Manhattanville's Natalie Arcena scored the equalizer. The Valiants' offense continued to fire away at Purchase netminder
Amber Yarter (SR/Albany, NY), totaling 14 shots and five unanswered goals.
Colgan scored again off the assist from Robison in the 78th minute, however, with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, Manhattanville registered another goal to finalize the count at 7-2.
Yarter finished with a season-best 13 saves despite being tagged with the loss.
