O’Donnell's 32 Carries SJC-BKLYN Past Purchase

BROOKLYN, NY – St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) hosted Purchase College for a Skyline Conference women's basketball game on Tuesday, with the Bears coming away with an 84-66 victory to improve to 9-7 overall and 7-4 in league play.

Junior guard Kelly O'Donnell fueled the win for SJC after leading all scorers with a notable 32 points. She notched a double-double performance with 15 rebounds and collected four assists, three blocks and three steals.

Emma Kiley also closed the night with a double-double after tallying 13 points and a game-high 17 boards, to go along with a game-best seven blocks. Jamie Provino rounded out the double-digit scoring for St. Joe's with 15 points, while Lauren Quesada finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Purchase (2-13, 1-9 SKY) produced some notable performances, including the scoring talents of sophomore guard Shadai Plowden (Yonkers, NY) and tri-captains Dejeana Peoples (JR/New York, NY) and Arta Krasniqi (SR/Bronx, NY).

Plowden led the Panther attack with a career-best 23 points, to go along with eight rebounds and four steals. Peoples also reached a career-high with 18 points and seven boards, while Krasniqi produced 16 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and a game-high seven assists.

After falling behind 44-25 at the half, Purchase fired in its best performance of the night in the third quarter. The Panthers opened with a trio of unanswered jumpers to narrow the SJC lead to 13 points (44-31). Purchase outscored the Bears 23-19 in the stanza, shooting 44 percent from the field, including 3-of-5 (60 percent) from three-point range.

Despite the third-quarter surge, Purchase was unable to hold off SJC's offense as the Bears drove in another 21 points over the final 10 minutes to secure the win.

The Panthers look to bounce back on Saturday, playing host to the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins at 12 p.m.
