PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated by the Valiants of Manhattanville College Tuesday night, falling to the Skyline Conference foe in straight sets.
Set scores for the contest were 25-11, 25-9 and 25-8. With the result, the Panthers dropped to 1-10 overall and 0-7 in the Skyline Conference, while Manhattanville jumped to 10-4 and 4-1 respectively.
Throughout the night, the Valiants showed why they are the defending Skyline Conference Champions. In all three sets, they raced out to early leads, all while thwarting Purchase's offense. For the Panthers, their lone lead of the game came at the beginning of the second set, when they scored three-straight points to make it 3-2.
In total, the hosts finished with 13 kills on -.032 hitting, while Manhattanville totaled a .333 hitting mark and 35 kills.
Individually,
Lilith Bastek-Ochoa (FR/Sag Harbor, NY) finished with four kills, while
Karina Medina (SR/Brooklyn, NY) added three kills and nine assists.
Skyla Schoppmeyer (SR/Oakdale, NY) recorded a game-high 14 digs in the defeat.
