PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's soccer team suffered defeat Wednesday evening, falling to the Rams of Farmingdale State College by the score of 5-0.

With the loss, the Panthers dropped to 4-8-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the Skyline Conference. As for the Rams, they improved to 8-5-1 and 6-2-1 respectively.

While the final score decisively favored the guests, the opening 45 minutes was a close battle between the two squads. During that opening frame, Purchase produced six shots, including a rocket from Juan Arboleda (SR/New Rochelle, NY) that needed saving. 

On the other side, Farmingdale created chances early and often. Initially, the Panthers' defense held the guests at bay before a put-back rebound in front of goal pushed the Rams ahead in the 16th minute.

That 1-0 score remained to the halftime horn, before the guests doubled their margin just five minutes into the second half. From there, Purchase lobbied for a goal to try to get back into the battle, but the Rams' backline held firm.

Since the Panthers were pushing forward so hard on offense, the defense was stretched thin and Farmingdale took advantage to the tune over three goals over the final 25 minutes to claim the 5-0 victory.

For the game, the Rams outshot Purchase, 20-11 overall and 9-2 on goal, and outpaced the hosts in corner kicks, 7-2. In goal, the Panthers got five saves from Mario Olmedo (JR/East Elmhurst, NY).
