NEW YORK, N.Y. –
Eric Block shot a career-high 22 points for Purchase in a hard-fought 98-69 loss to No. 2 Yeshiva University at the Max Stern Athletic Center Tuesday night.
The matchup, which opened Skyline action for Purchase, was the first time the two teams went head-to-head since the 2019-20 Conference Championship game.
Yeshiva (7-0, 4-0 Skyline) grabbed a notable 35 rebounds in the opening stanza and used a 10-0 run in the final minutes to lead 45-30 at the break.
The home team continued to ignite in the second half, connecting on 21-of-38 (55%) from the field and 8-of-12 (67%) from the charity stripe.

Malcolm Hansford-Whyte layup and
James Brady 3-pointer put Purchase (0-4, 0-1 Skyline) within 15 points (66-51 with 12:43 remaining), before Yeshiva rattled off another six unanswered points.
Yeshiva stretched its advantage to 34 points (89-55 with 4:28 remaining) on a made free throw from Eitan Halpert. The hosts held a commanding lead over Purchase the rest of the way en route to the 98-69 victory.
The Maccabees shot a 48.1-percent clip (38-for-79) and out-rebounded the Panthers 62-33 on the night; setting a season record in boards for the home team. Purchase was held to 37.5-percent shooting (27-for-72).
Five different scorers from Yeshiva reached double digits, including double-double performances from Ryan Turell and Gabriel Leifer. Turell led all scorers with a notable 26 points and 13 rebounds, while Leifer recorded 17 points and a game-high 14 boards.
Block (SR/Warwick, NY) paced the Panther offense with 22 points—the most in his collegiate career. The senior guard connected on 8-of-15 attempts from the field, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Block also grabbed four rebounds and a pair of assists.
Hansford-Whyte (SR/Queens, NY) finished with 18 points and two steals, while
Matthew Phillips led the Panther defense with 10 boards.
Up next, Purchase will take on Hunter College. The non-conference road game is scheduled for Nov. 29 at 6 p.m.
