PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team lost a pair of contests Saturday afternoon, falling to the Valiants of Manhattanville College by the scores of 20-0 and 16-0.
In game one,
Jaiya Hewitt (JR/Kingston, NY) and
Kelly Agostini (SR/Centereach, NY) each recorded singles for the Panthers, while
Zanaia Godette (SO/Bronx, NY) reached base after drawing a walk.Â
Manhattanville controlled the contest early, as the hosts scored nine runs in the first inning to cruise to the eventual win.
The Valiants (5-2 overall and 4-2 Skyline Conference) continued that momentum into game two of the doubleheader, as they poured in eight runs in the opening inning this time around. The hosts then scored four more runs in both the third and fourth frames to seal the win.Â
As for the Panthers (0-12, 0-9 Skyline), Hewitt provided the only hit in the loss with a single in the top of the first, before Agostini reached base after getting hit by a pitch that same inning.
