PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team lost a pair of contests Sunday afternoon, falling to St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn by the scores of 13-0 and 11-3.
With the results, the Panthers are now 0-16 overall and 0-12 in the Skyline Conference. Meanwhile, the Bears improved to 12-3 and 9-3, respectively. 
In game one, the hosts struck early with a run in the bottom of the first. Things remained tight between the two teams until the third frame, when the Bears busted the game wide open with nine runs in the inning.
St. Joseph's-Brooklyn then added three more runs in the fourth to seal the shutout victory over Purchase.
In the loss, the Panthers finished with four hits courtesy of 
Alexandria Perez (JR/Bronx, NY), 
Kelly Agostini (SR/Centereach, NY), 
Julia Marsala (FR/Shoreham, NY) and 
Hannah Cronin (FR/Granby, CT).
In game two, it was Purchase that struck first this time, as Agostini drilled an RBI-single to score 
Jaiya Hewitt (JR/Kingston, NY) in the top of the first.
However, the lead was short lived, as the Bears responded with two runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the second.
Purchase never quit though. Down by 6-1 in the fourth, Hewitt answered with an RBI-single of her own.
St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn then added three runs to extend the margin to 9-2, before sophomore 
Erin Mullen (Woodlawn, NY) singled up the middle in the fifth to cut the margin to 9-3. 
Unfortunately, the Bears sealed the game in the bottom half of the frame with a pair of runs to collect the 11-3 victory to closeout the afternoon.
In the game two loss, Purchase was led by Hewitt, who finished with two hits, one RBI and one run. 
Brianna Palermo (SO/Hyde Park, NY) also added two hits, while 
Zanaia Godette (SO/Queens, NY) tallied two walks and a run.
