FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team was defeated by the score of 9-0 Sunday afternoon, as the Panthers fell to the Rams of Farmingdale State College.
With the loss, Purchase is now 0-19 overall and 0-16 in the conference. Meanwhile, the Rams are now 9-3 and 9-2, respectively.Â
The hosts jumped out to an early lead on the day, riding a five-run first inning to an eventual victory. Farmingdale later added three more runs in the second and one in the fourth to seal the 9-0 win.Â
For the Panthers, the guests recorded three baserunners in the loss, as
Brianna Palermo (SO/Hyde Park, NY) singled to leadoff the second inning,
Jaiya Hewitt (JR/Kingston, NY) reached base via an error to start the fourth and
Julia Marsala (FR/Shoreham, NY) singled in the fifth frame.
On the mound,
Kelly Agostini (SR/Centereach, NY) was tagged with the loss.Â
Up next for the Panthers is more Skyline Conference action, as the team is set to take on the College of Mount Saint Vincent in a doubleheader. Those games are set to be played on May 1st at a time to be announced.Â
