FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Despite some close finishes, Purchase College took its first loss of the fall Tuesday night at Farmingdale State. The Panthers dropped the Skyline Conference opener, 7-2, to the host Rams.
Farmingdale (3-3, 1-0 Skyline) swept doubles play, holding a 3-0 advantage over Purchase (2-1, 0-1 Skyline) early on.
The Rams continued to heat up, recording the first win in singles at the No. 3 spot.

Olivia Menchell (FR/Weston, CT) broke the scoring ice for the Panthers with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at fifth singles. Teammate
Kali Secrest (SO/Hartsdale, NY) also recorded a win for the visitors, besting her opponent (6-2, 6-2) at the No. 6 position, but Farmingdale would go on to take the scores at the top four spots to secure the 7-2 victory.
The Panthers look to jump back into the win column this Saturday when the team plays host to Mount Saint Mary College. The Skyline matchup is slated for 11 a.m.
