Panthers Defeated by Mount Saint Vincent

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's basketball team lost at home Saturday afternoon, falling to the College of Mount Saint Vincent by the score of 61-36 in a Skyline Conference battle.

With the result, the Panthers dropped to 0-10 overall and 0-7 in the league. Meanwhile, the Dolphins moved to 8-3 and 6-3, respectively.

The contest started with some back and forth action, before the guests concluded the first quarter on a 7-2 run, carrying a 17-9 advantage into the second quarter. From there, the two sides traded baskets all quarter long and entered the midway break with an eight-point difference, 31-23.

Once the second half began though, Mount Saint Vincent changed the narrative by scoring 10-straight points and embarking on 14-4 run to open the period. Over the entire third frame, the guests outscored Purchase, 22-9, to push their margin to 21 points, 53-32.

That margin remained throughout the final period, as the Dolphins cruised to an eventual 61-36 win.

On the day, Ariella Johnson (SO/Brooklyn, NY) led the charge for Purchase with 13 points and seven rebounds. Alyssa Aurora (SR/Ossining, NY) and Reina Lebron (JR/Queens, NY) each added six point apiece in the loss.

Up next for the Panthers is more home Skyline Conference action, as the team welcomes Farmingdale State College on January 18th at 8 p.m. You can follow along right here.
