PURCHASE, N.Y. – The City College of New York picked up its fifth shutout win of the season Wednesday evening after downing Purchase College, 9-0, in non-conference action.
CCNY (5-1-1) had its foot on the gas pedal from the first to the final whistle. After lighting up the board in the opening 30 seconds, the visiting Beavers tacked on three more goals—all off the foot of junior forward Skylar Parker—to lead 4-0 at the break.
Parker went on to score another hat trick in the final 45 minutes, while teammates Laura Villatoro and Cassidy Canberg netted one apiece.
The Beavers held a 42-6 shot advantage, including a 25-5 edge on frame.
Starting in net for Purchase, senior
Haley Cascio (Deer Park, NY) recorded 10 saves, while giving up four. Freshman
Carolyn Hough (Massapequa, NY) came off the bench for the final 45 minutes, amassing six saves with five goals against.
Wednesday's matchup was the first of a four-game home series for the Panthers. They will return to their pitch this Saturday for a 3 p.m. kickoff against Skyline Conference foe Farmingdale State.
