Purchase Men's Lax Defeated by Mount St. Mary

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team was bested by Mount Saint Mary College Tuesday evening, falling to the Skyline Conference foe by the score of 15-2.

With the result, the Panthers are now 4-5 overall and 0-3 in the league. Meanwhile, the Knights are now 8-3 and 2-1, respectively.

Despite the final tally, the contest actually started quite competitively.

After the guests opened the scoring six minutes in, the Panthers tied things up via a strike from Zach Collins (FR/Victory, NY) midway through the first quarter.

The score remained 1-1 until the last minute of the period, when Mount St. Mary jumped back in front.

The Knights tallied a third goal to start the second quarter, before Purchase got the strike back thanks to Angus Goldman (JR/Palisades, NY).

Goldman converted the chance off a feed from Joe Ely (JR/North Salem, NY), who also had the assist on the first goal, cutting the margin to 3-2 with 8:35 remaining before halftime.

However, that goal wound up being the final of the day for the hosts, as the Knights proceeded to pull away late in the period.

The guests scored four-straight goals to close out the half and lead, 7-2, at the break.

Once the second half began, Mount St. Mary continued to roll until the final whistle. The Black and Blue added eight-consecutive goals over the final two quarters to secure the eventual win, 15-2.

In goal, Will Boes (FR/Pleasantville, NY) finished with eight saves and a ground ball.

On defense, Riley Donovan (SO/Billerica, MA) recorded four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Bridger Carreau (5th/Marietta, GA) also caused three turnovers in the loss.

Up next for the Panthers is the final non-conference game of the season, as they travel to Pennsylvania to take on Keystone College. That game is set for April 15th at 1 p.m.
