Balanced Attack Propels SJC Past Purchase

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Purchase College was unable to rebound from a slow start in Wednesday's 17-2 Skyline Conference setback to St. Joseph's College (L.I.) at home under the lights.

St. Joe's (5-5, 2-2 Skyline) went on a 9-0 run in the opening 30 minutes, led by Jack Gilbride and Tyler Kollar with six combined goals.

The visitors tacked on another three goals after the break, but with 3:33 remaining, Purchase (5-6, 0-4 Skyline) junior Angus Goldman (Palisades, NY) snapped the shutout attempt with a goal off a feed from Daegan Cronin (SO/New Paltz, NY).
SJC netted another pair to stretch its advantage to 14-1, before Purchase senior Ben Erkan (Bayside, NY) notched his 100th career point with an unassisted goal at 13:07. Erkan joins Dylan Gethicker '19 as the second-ever men's lacrosse player to join the 100-point club. Gethicker holds the record with 118 points spread across three seasons (33 games).

Over the final 11 minutes of the game, the Golden Eagles knocked in another three goals to finish with the 17-2 Skyline decision.

SJC senior goalie Andrew Brust (5-5) picked up nine saves over 45 minutes of action for the win. Connor Van Dusen and Anthony Loiacono split the final 15 minutes and recorded two saves apiece.

Rookie netminder Will Boes (FR/Pleasantville, NY) recorded 14 saves for Purchase as the loss drops his record to 5-6 overall.
