Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. – Purchase College seniors
Bridger Carreau,
Ben Erkan,
Conor Schwenker and
Cristian Ishoo were celebrated prior to the start of Saturday's Skyline Conference men's lacrosse game against Maritime College.
The undefeated (in Skyline) Privateers would come away with the victory, capping Purchase's 2022 home slate with a 26-4 decision.
Surrounded by teammates, family and friends, the four seniors were individually recognized for their accomplishments both on and off the field.
Carreau (Atlanta, GA) has been a standout defender for the Panthers over the past four seasons. Across 28 career starts, Carreau totaled 78 groundballs and 51 caused turnovers. He's also made dean's list every semester and will graduate this May with a BFA in film.
Erkan (Bellport, NY) has been an eminent midfielder for the Panther lineup. He's appeared in 43 games with 32 starts, earning the Panthers 68 goals, 32 assists, 190 ground balls, 31 caused turnovers, while winning a notable 238 face offs. A member of the Purchase golf, swim, volleyball, and lacrosse teams, Erkan—a four-sport athlete competing on the Purchase golf, swim, volleyball and lacrosse teams—will graduate with a BS in psychology.
Schwenker (Westhampton Beach, NY) has been a key player for the offensive line and difference maker this season. Over 18 career appearances and 11 starts, Schwenker has tallied 16 goals and 12 assists. He will graduate this May with a BFA in graphic design.
Ishoo (Tarrytown, NY) was another four-year starter for Purchase and entered Saturday's game with 27 goals, 12 assists, 28 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. The two-sport athlete (soccer, lacrosse) will graduate with a BA in communications.
Both teams went scoreless in the opening six minutes of action. Maritime (8-7, 6-0 Skyline) broke the ice with unassisted tallies from Sean Foley and Parker Reilly, respectively. The visitors continued to ignite, firing in another six goals to close the first quarter with a comfortable 8-0 lead.
After Jason Corvi connected to make it 9-0, Purchase's
Angus Goldman (JR/Palisades, NY) lit up the board for the home team with a goal at 12:57 off the feed from Carreau.
Erkan posted another tally off the assist from
Daegan Cronin (SO/New Paltz, NY) but despite their effort, Purchase trailed the Privateers by 11 goals (13-2) at halftime.
Maritime's offense did not ease up over the final 30 minutes as the Privateers combined for 25 shots and 13 goals.
Angus tallied the final two goals for Purchase but even with the hat trick performance, Purchase would close the game in defeat, 26-4.
Maritime was led by Reilly and Connor Buschle with four goals apiece, while Charles Longo netted three and a game-best five assists for a team-leading eight points. The visitors also saw scoring performances from 12 other Privateers and starting goalie Michael Monahan picked up his fifth win of the season.
