Purchase Thwarted on Senior Night

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Night Wednesday, before falling in a tight contest to St. Joseph's-Long Island, 10-6.

With the result, the Panthers are now 1-10 overall and 0-6 in the Skyline Conference. For the Golden Eagles, they moved to 4-8 and 1-5, respectively.

Before the night began, the Blue and Orange celebrated its senior duo of Kevon Joseph (Brooklyn, NY) and Aiden Thomas (Miami, FL) with a pregame ceremony of gifts, photos and words of praise with family, friends and teammates.

Following the ceremony, the squad shifted gears to the battle ahead. To open, the two sides were tied at 2-all after one quarter, before an early goal in the second gave the hosts the lead momentarily.

However, the contest flipped over the final five minutes of the first half, as the Golden Eagles scored four-straight goals to change a 3-2 deficit into a 6-3 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Panthers answered with back-to-back goals in the third to make it 6-5, but that was as close as they got the rest of the night.

In the end, Purchase produced 35 shots (18 on goal), 24 ground balls and won five face-offs.

Individually, Joseph led the effort with three goals and a ground ball, while Thomas finished with a ground ball and caused turnover.

Zach Scott (SO/West Babylon, NY) added two goals and an assist, and Chandler Redwood (JR/Dayton, OH) tallied a goal and an assist.

Cameron Savoca (JR/Nesconset, NY) collected seven ground balls, five caused turnovers and won all five face-offs on the night.

In goal, TJ Pasqualini (SO/West Harrison, NY) recorded 10 saves and a ground ball.

Up next for the Panthers is the season finale, as they host Maritime College on April 25th at noon.
