PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase men's tennis team celebrated Senior Day in style, rolling past Mount Saint Mary College, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Purchase kicked off the beautiful day with a ceremony to honor Panther seniors
Julian Szuper (New York, NY) and
Simon Montalvo (Valencia, Spain) for their contributions to the program.
There was much to celebrate during play as well, as the Panthers rolled in doubles and singles, holding the Knights scoreless in every set for the victory.
In doubles, Montalvo teamed up withÂ
David Goldstein (FR/Leonia, NJ) to prevail, 8-0, at the No. 2 spot before Szuper andÂ
Ben Joory (JR/Port Washington, NY) finished with an 8-0 victory at the top position.
Nikita Kordzielewska (FR/Stepnica, Poland)paired with
William Isidro (JR/Monroe, NY) at third doubles to deliver yet another 8-0 sweep as the Panthers held a 3-0 advantage heading into singles action.Â
The Panthers continued to dominate the courts during singles play, recording perfect 6-0, 6-0 scores in all six matches for the complete sweep.
Saturday's matchup also marked the regular season finale for both teams. Purchase stands at 4-9 overall (3-4 Skyline) and has clinched a playoff spot in the Skyline postseason, while MSMC concludes its 2022 campaign with an overall record of 0-10 (0-7 Skyline).Â
