COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's soccer team scored early and often in a 7-1 non-conference victory at SUNY Cobleskill Saturday afternoon.
Four different players scored for the Panthers, highlighted by a four-goal performance from senior tri-captain
Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, NY). The Panther veteran was first to light up the board, connecting with teammate
Kristiana Brunder (JR/Holbrook, NY), who earned the assist.
In the 34th minute, rookie midfielder
Kira Sansone (FR/Pleasantville, NY) beat two Cobleskill defenders off the dribble to score her first collegiate goal and the eventual game-winner.
Purcell struck again in the final minutes of the first half to push PC's advantage to 3-0.
Cobleskill fired back with a goal to open the second stanza, but the Purchase offense doubled down and tacked on two more at 51:19 and 59:47, respectively. Purcell and
Rebecca Quick (SO/Millbrook, NY) traded goals and assists on the tallies.
Senior defender and tri-captain
Michelle Gomez (Oceanside, NY) netted her third-career goal in the 76th minute and Purcell scored the final goal of the game on a pass from Sansone.
Amidst a flurry of Panther offense, the Fighting Tigers had several key offensive chances. All but one were shut down by rookie goalkeeper

The Panthers, now 2-0 under first-year head coach
