PURCHASE, NY – Behind a 10-save performance from
Carolyn Hough, the Purchase College women's soccer team blanked Pratt Institute, 1-0, at home Friday night.
With the win, the Panthers advanced to 3-0 on the season while tagging Pratt (4-1) with its first loss of the season.
Hough (FR/Massapequa, NY) shut down seven Cannoneer attempts in the second half to keep Purchase's clean sheet alive. The rookie standout picked up her first-career shutout in the effort.
Senior forward and tri-captain
Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, NY) scored the lone goal for the Panthers in the 70th minute. With the assist from freshman midfielder
Kira Sansone (Fishkill, NY), Purcell ripped a shot from the top of the 6-yard box to the far post for her fifth goal in two games.
Purchase outshot Pratt 31-14 (10-10 on goal) but the visitors held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-2.
The Panthers will return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 20) at St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.). The Skyline Conference game will kick off at 6 p.m.
