Golden Eagles Slip Past Purchase, 3-0

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - St. Joseph's University New York (L.I.) delivered Purchase College its first loss of the season Tuesday evening at Danzi Stadium.

St. Joe's pushed its overall record to 2-1-2 and remained unbeaten in conference play (2-0), while the visiting Panthers drop to 3-1 ans 1-1 in the league.

The hosts controlled play for much of the evening and broke through with the eventual game-winning goal in the 15th minute. Alesandra Melendez connected with teammate Abbey Curcio, who scored from the top of the 18-yard box.

The Golden Eagles pushed their advantage to 2-0 with a goal from Carli LoNigro off a cross by Brooke Espoito at 25:15.

At the half, St. Joe's held a 10-1 edge in shots and 2-0 in corner kicks.

The hosts would find the back of the net for the final time in the 57th minute on an unassisted breakaway to goal from Julia Cruz.
