Baruch Bests Purchase Women's Volleyball

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated by Baruch College Thursday night, falling in straight sets to the non-conference foe.

Set scores were 25-15, 25-11 and 25-19. With the loss, the Panthers dropped to 1-7 overall. For Baruch, the win pushed the Bearcats to 8-5.

To begin the night, the two sides battled back-and-forth in the opening set to a 15-15 tie. From there, the guests caught fire and closed out the frame with 10-straight points to take the set.

That momentum carried over into the second set, as the Bearcats raced out to a 17-5 lead. The Panthers continued to fight though, trimming the margin to 20-11, before Baruch sealed the frame with five-straight points.

Set three then played out similarly to the opening stanza, as the two sides enjoyed a tough battle to close out the night.

While each side reeled off a pair of five-point rallies during the action, it was the final five-point rally that handed Baruch the win, 25-19.

For the match, Purchase finished with 18 kills on a .000 hitting percentage, while Baruch tallied 32 kills and .116 hitting.

Individually, Samantha Fasce (SR/Yorktown Heights, NY) paced the Panthers with five kills, three blocks and six digs.
