PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated by Sarah Lawrence College Tuesday evening, falling in straight sets to the Skyline Conference foe.
Set scores for the contest were 25-15, 25-17 and 25-9.
With the result, the Panthers dropped to 1-8 overall and 1-1 in the conference. For the Gryphons, they moved to 9-4 and 3-0, respectively.Â
The opening set saw close action between the two sides to start, until Sarah Lawrence rallied midway through to change an 8-8 tie score to a 19-10 advantage.Â
Purchase responded with three-straight points to cut the margin to six points, 19-13, but that was as close as PCÂ got the rest of the frame.
In set two, the tight action continued early, before a late run from the guests separated the two sides.
With the score 14-13 in favor of the visitors, the Gryphons closed out the match on an 11-4 run to secure the win, 25-17.
In the final set of the night, Sarah Lawrence used three different runs of at least five points to create a big margin and cruise to a win over the Panthers to secure the match.
Overall, Purchase was limited to just 13 kills on -.012 hitting. For Sarah Lawrence, the guests tallied marks of 36 kills and .194 hitting.
Individually,
Zia Williams (SO/Hudson, NY) led the Panthers with a team-high four kills.
Lilith Bastek-Ochoa (SO/Sag Harbor, NY) added three kills and 10 digs, while
Karina Medina (SR/Brooklyn, NY) collected 10 assists, eight digs and two kills.
