PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's tennis team was defeated by Pratt Institute Friday afternoon, dropping the non-conference matchup by the score of 7-2.
With the result, the Panthers now sit at 3-2 overall, while the Cannoneers of Pratt stayed perfect at 2-0.
To begin the chilly afternoon, Purchase dropped the first two doubles' matchups before the No. 2 duo of
Elaina Coppola (JR/White Plains, NY) and
Olivia Menchell (SO/Los Angeles, CA) outlasted their opposition, 8-7 (7-4).
Once the action switched over to singles play, the visitors remained in control, winning five of the six matchups.
Purchase's lone win came from Coppola at the No. 5 spot, as she bested her opponent by the score of 6-3, 5-7, 10-3.
At No. 1 singles,
Nikita Kordzielewska (SR/Stepnica, Poland) also pushed her match to three sets, before falling, 6-1, 2-6, 10-5.
Up next for the Panthers is a trip to New York City, as the team faces Baruch College on September 27th at 3:00 p.m.
