PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase men's soccer team suffered its third-straight Skyline loss in a 4-0 home defeat against Manhattanville College Tuesday evening.
Despite picking up the loss, sophomore goalkeeper
Travis Stella (Waterbury, NY) totaled seven impressive saves over the 90 minutes for Purchase (3-4, 0-3 Skyline).
Manhattanville's Sebastian Testa and Michael Mezzina had two goals apiece as the Valiants remain undefeated (3-0) in the league.
Testa broke the scoring ice at 28:44 with a header off the feed from Kendall Davis. Just over two minutes later, Testa lit up the visitors' board again after connecting on a pass from Gabe Jeffries.
Mezzina's tallies—both unassisted—came in the 48th and 78th minutes, respectively. He shot far left post from the upper 18 to pad Manhattanville's lead, 3-0, and later closed out the scoring on a penalty kick.
Manhattanville outshot the Panthers 25-3 (11-2 on goal), and led 9-0 in corner kicks.
Purchase will look to snap the skid this Thursday at Centenary University. The non-conference game will kick off at 3 p.m.
