Game Two: Old Westbury 3, Purchase 0 (28-26, 25-19, 25-21)

While the opening contest of the afternoon was one sided, the second matchup produced a much tighter affair as the two Panther squads played a rematch from September 26th.

The result was different this time though, as Purchase bested Old Westbury in four sets previously.

For this round, the two sides opened the battle by trading blows over the first set.

Purchase managed to edge ahead late in the contest, 20-18, before six of the next seven points went to Old West to make it 24-21.

PC then responded with three straight points to extend the match, before the two sides traded points to a 26-all score. Finally, an attacking error and kill sealed the deal for the Green and White, as the emerged with the opening-set win.

The middle frame saw the OW Panthers riding high, as they began the frame with seven-straight points. Despite the massive deficit, the PC Panthers rallied back and managed to grab their first lead, 16-15.

As the match progressed, Purchase managed one more lead at 18-17, and were tied at 19-all, before Old Westbury sealed the deal with the final six points to take a commanding 2-0 set lead.

In the final stanza, the Blue and Orange fell behind early once more only to valiantly rally back midway through. However, Old West never trailed in the set and eventually grabbed victory by the score of 25-21.

Overall, Purchase finished with 28 kills on .051 hitting, while its Skyline Conference foe totaled 35 kills on .063 hitting.

Bastek-Ochoa fueled the effort with team highs in kills (8) and digs (14), while Maya Brown (FR/Carteret, NJ) added seven kills and 14 digs.

Landreth recorded seven kills and five blocks, and Leite finished with 17 assists.

Following the results, the Panthers moved to 4-15 overall and 2-6 in the Skyline Conference.

Up next for Purchase is a return home as the squad welcomes the United States Merchant Marine Academy on October 17th at 7 p.m.
