Box Score FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's tennis team saw its 2023 season come to a close on Monday with a hard fought 7-2 Skyline Conference loss to host Farmingdale State.
The match, which originally was to be played over the weekend, was rescheduled to a week night matchup due to weather.
Sophomores
Sierra Blanco (New York, NY) and
Novalie Nguyen (Macedon, NY) each picked up singles wins for the Panthers.
Blanco moved to 8-2 (5-1 SKY) in singles play with a 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (12-10) triumph at the fifth flight against Ram opponent Gabriella Loria.
Nguyen also moved her overall mark to 8-2, including 4-2 in the league, after outlasting Luisa Valencia 6-3, 6-3 at sixth singles.
Monday's loss closed the Panthers' fall season at 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the Skyline. Farmingdale advanced to 10-3 overall and 5-1, securing the No. 2 seed in this week's four-team, 2023 Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Championship. The Rams will play host to third-seeded Manhattanville College in semifinal play, Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
