PURCHASE, N.Y. – Purchase College picked up its second-consecutive Skyline Conference win after downing Mount Saint Mary College, 9-0, Thursday night under the lights at home.
The Skyline matchup marked the third-straight year that the Panthers (4-3, 2-1 SKY) bested the Knights (0-6, 0-3 SKY).
Senior
Elaina Coppola (White Plains, NY) and freshman
Amelia Perlmutter (Rutherford, NJ) broke the scoring ice with an 8-1 win at first doubles. Junior
Olivia Menchell (Los Angeles, CA) and sophomore
Novalie Nguyen (Macedon, NY) teamed up for an 8-2 victory of the No. 2 spot, and junior
Harley Colletti (Bardonia, NY) and sophomore
Sierra Blanco (New York, NY) rounded out the doubles scoring with an 8-3 finish at the No. 3 position.
Singles competition followed a similar script, with the Panthers winning comfortably at all six flights.
Menchell collected the first singles point after defeating Victoria Valencia, 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot. Nguyen recorded the deciding point to win the match following a 6-2, 6-0 victory at sixth singles.
Perlmutter (6-3, 6-4),
Emma Arnaud (SO/Farmington, NY) (6-0, 6-4), Coppola (6-3, 6-0) and Blanco (6-2, 6-4) picked up wins at first, third, fourth and fifth singles, respectively, for the complete shutout over the visitors.
No rest for Purchase as the team returns to action in less than 24 hours, traveling down the road to Manhattanville College for a Skyline matchup at 4 p.m.
