NEW YORK, N.Y. – Taking to the road for the first time this season, the Purchase College women's basketball team fell to host Yeshiva University at Nat Holman Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers (0-2) held a 16-12 point advantage in the fourth quarter but the late rally was not enough as the Maccabees (2-1) walked away with the 68-43 win.
Purchase freshman guard
Halle Greaige came off the bench to record a team-best 13 points and game-high 13 rebounds. The Panther rookie led all players on the boards and went 5-for-11 from the field, while adding three steals and four assists en route to a career-first double double performance.
Sophomore guard
Charlee Neb (Longmont, CO) went 3-for-10 from beyond the arc and was flawless at the free throw line for 11 total points.
Freshman forward
Nia Henry (Brooklyn, NY) added seven points and six rebounds, while junior guard
Carlye Graff (Nyack, NY) chipped in with six points and seven boards.
Yeshiva saw a trio of players reach double-digit scoring. Daniella Bessler led the Maccabees with a notable 25 points and nine rebounds. Shai Rahamim netted 14 points and seven boards, while Jasmin Maly-Danker totaled 13 points and three steals.
Purchase shot 28.8 percent from the field (17-for-59) and connected on 23.1 percent of its 3-pointers. Yeshiva shot 41.8 (28-of-67) as a team and netted 8-of-22 from beyond the arc. Purchase out out-rebounded the Maccabees, 45-40, on the afternoon.
Purchase returns to its home court on Nov. 15 to host neighboring Manhattanville College for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
