NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Panthers fall to conference powerhouse Mount Saint Mary Wednesday night at the Kaplan Center. The host Knights defeated the Panthers by a score of 91-33, dropping Purchase to a record of 0-4 (0-3 in the Skyline).
The first quarter opened with back-and-forth scoring between the two teams.
Mount Saint Mary broke open the tightly contested game with an 8-0 run to take a 7-3 lead with seven minutes remaining.
Sophomore guard
Charlee Neb (Longmont, CO) snapped Mount's run with a 3-pointer at 6:45. Mount however would continue to hold the scoring advantage, closing the quarter with a 24-10 lead.
Mount would outscore Purchase the rest of the way to close the game with a comfortable advantage.
In the last seven seconds remaining, junior guard Caryle Graff (Nyack, NY) connected on a 3-pointer to cap the scoring, 91-33.
Freshman forward
Nia Henry (Brooklyn, NY) and Neb led the Purchase offense with eight points each, while freshman forward
Jessica McHugh (Ellenville, NY) paced the board count with seven total.
The Panthers will be back at home Friday to play host to conference opponent United States Merchant Marine Academy at 7 P.M.
