PURCHASE N.Y.- The Purchase College women's basketball team was defeated by conference foe United States Merchant Marine Academy Wednesday night at home. Despite holding the scoring advantage in the fourth quarter, the visiting Mariners would outscore the Panthers 76-41.

Merchant Marine started the first quarter with the lead over Purchase. The Mariners kept the streak going with a 10-0 run until PC's
Charlee Neb (SO/ Longmont CO) broke through with a pair of made free throws. Both teams traded baskets as
Aysiah Clinton (FR/ Portland, OR) made a good jumper with one second left in the first quarter. USMMA still had the lead with 23-8.Â

The second quarter highlighted some of the best scoring performances by Purchase as the Panthers shot 41.67% from the field as a team. It was a combined effort as five different Panthers contributed to the thirteen-point total.

Purchase and Merchant Marine would battle it out for the final two quarters. Despite their efforts, the Panthers would fall behind the Mariners with the end score of 76-41. Neb paced the Panthers while also recording a career high of seventeen points and five rebounds.
Kendall Larsen (FR/ Staten Island, NY) led the Purchase defense with a career best of ten rebounds, one block, and one steal.Â

Purchase will be on the road Monday December 4
th for non-conference game against Hunter College in New York, NY at 5 p.m.
