NEW YORK, N.Y. — Hunter College used a first-half surge to get past Purchase Monday night inside the HC Sportsplex.
Despite a 14-point performance from sophomore guard Charlee Neb, the visiting Panthers were unable to erase the early deficit and fell 85-42 to the non-conference Hawks.
Sophomore guard Alexa Charles led the way for the hosts with a double double performance, recording a game-high 28 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals.
For Purchase, Neb (Longmont, CO) swiped four boards and one steal to go along with a team-best 14 points. Freshman guard Kendall Larsen (Staten Island, NY) added 10 points, five rebounds and an impressive five steals.
Hunter shot 53.8 percent from the field (35-of-65) and 45.5 percent from 3-point range (5-of-11), in addition to going 10-of-16 (62.6%) at the line. The Hawks limited Purchase to 32.6 percent (15-of-46) shooting from the field, while also producing 41 points off PC's 36 turnovers. Hunter also held a 41-21 advantage in rebounds.
Purchase looks to bounce back this Wednesday when the Panthers return to their home court to play host to St. Joseph's University (LI). The Skyline Conference tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
