Carr Nets Hat Trick to Lead Men's Lacrosse Over Rosemont, 10-9

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Freshman midfielder Shakim Carr netted a career-high three goals, including the game-winner with two minutes remaining, to lift Purchase past Rosemont, 10-9, under the lights at home on Wednesday.

The Panthers improved to 2-3 on the season, while the Ravens dropped to 0-6 overall.

Purchase entered the fourth quarter of the game with a 7-6 lead but found itself trailing 9-8 with just over six minutes left in regulation. Senior midfielder Angus Goldman (Palisades, NY) snapped a trio of unanswered Rosemont goals to tie the game, 9-9, before Carr (Brooklyn, NY) notched the game-winner 30 seconds later to push PC out in front.

With eight seconds remaining, Rosemont recorded a successful clear off a Purchase turnover. Veteran midfielder Stephen McLaughlin ripped a shot just outside the crease but the comeback attempt was shutdown by Purchase goalie Will Boes (SO/Pleasantville, NY), who made a spectacular save to preserve the win.

Boes (2-3) collected an impressive 15 saves in his fifth complete-game performance in goal. Rosemont's Andrew Menold also recorded a notable finish with 17 saves, despite being tagged with the loss.

Carr led the Panthers with three goals—a career-first hat trick for the standout rookie—and two ground balls. Goldman chipped in with a pair of goals and five ground balls, while Kevon Joseph (FR/Brooklyn, NY), Joe Ely (SR/North Salem, NY), Zach Collins (FR/Victor, NY), Cristian Ishoo (5th/Tarrytown, NY) and Jack Saueracker (FR/Old Bethpage, NY) rounded off the scoring with one goal apiece.

Rosemont's Liam O'Conner led all scorers with four goals, to go along with four ground balls.

Purchase will return to its home turf on Saturday at noon for a non-conference matchup against Cairn University.
