WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Purchase College women's lacrosse team was defeated at the University of Saint Joseph Thursday afternoon, falling in the non-conference matchup by the score of 17-4.
Junior
Alyssa Kozak (East Meadow, NY) scored all four goals for the Panthers, tallying three in the first half before recording an up-goal late in the fourth.
Michelle Gomez (SR/Oceanside, NY) finished with three assists, two ground balls and one caused turnover, while
Leah Dwyer (SR/Glen Cove, NY) and
Alexa Caleo each collected five ground balls.
In goal,
Casandra Schmoger (SR/Islip, NY) tied her career-high with 22 saves, and recorded six ground balls and three caused turnovers, both of which led the guests.Â
For the hosts, they opened the game with eight-straight goals and nine of the first 10 overall en route to the victory.
With the result, Purchase moved to 0-2 on the young season, while the Blue Jays improved to 4-1.
