PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team was defeated in straight sets Tuesday night, falling to the College of Mount Saint Vincent in a Skyline Conference showdown.
Scores for the contest were 25-20, 25-13 and 25-20.
With the result, the Panthers are now 4-15 overall and 2-6 in the league. For the Dolphins, they improved to 8-10 and 5-2, respectively.
Purchase started the night tough, pushing the guests throughout the entire first set.
During the frame, the hosts trailed by as many as five points, before rallying to gain the lead midway through.
However, an 8-1 run from Mount Saint Vincent turned the tide back in its favor, as the Dolphins secured the opening set.
In the middle frame, the Panthers raced out to an early lead, before the guests quickly pulled away.
Finally, the third frame played out nearly identically to the first set, as the Panthers once again held the lead midway through, until another 8-1 scoring run aided the guests in their eventual win.
On the night, the hosts finished with 25 kills on .047 hitting, while the Dolphins totaled 34 kills via a .172 hitting mark.
Individually,
Chris Posillico (SR/Saltaire, NY) finished with eight kills and nine digs, while
Marcus Garguilo (SO/Port Washtington, NY) added six kills and eight digs.
Idris Idris (SR/Bronx, NY) tallied 16 assists and and nine digs in the loss.
