PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's lacrosse team was thwarted by Maritime College at home Wednesday afternoon, falling in the Skyline Conference matchup by the score of 19-2.
The Blue and Orange dropped to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the league with the loss, while the Privateers moved to 9-2 and 4-0, respectively. 
Brienne Westfall (SR/Grand Island, NY) scored the opening goal for the hosts, as she found the back of the net off a feed from 
Alyssa Kozak (JR/East Meadow, NY) early in the first quarter.
Michelle Gomez (SR/Oceanside, NY) recorded the other Panther goal on the day, as she completed a free-position chance with just over five minutes remaining in the second frame.
For the guests, they raced out to a 9-1 lead after 15 minutes, and led 14-2 at halftime.
Individually, Kozak tallied four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers in the effort.
Gomez collected three ground balls, while 
Taylor Marsico (SR/Rye Brook, NY) caused two turnovers and had a ground ball.
In goal, 
Amani Jamal (SO/Hopewell Junction, NY) made her first career start, finishing with a career-high 23 saves and two ground balls.
Up next for the Panthers is more Skyline Conference home action, as the team welcomes Manhattanville College on April 14. That contest is set to begin at 6 p.m.
