PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's lacrosse team was defeated by Manhattanville College Friday night, dropping the Skyline Conference matchup by the score of 23-0.
With the result, the Panthers fell to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the league. For the Valiants, they moved to 9-3 and 2-2, respectively.
From the get-go, the guests established themselves as the dominant force in the win.
The Valiants scored twice in the first minute and 10 goals in the first period. By halftime, the margin was 15-0.
For the hosts, they tallied five shots in the defeat.
Alyssa Kozak (JR/East Meadow, NY) and
Brienne Westfall (SR/Grand Island, NY) each finished with four draw controls and a shot on goal for the Panthers.
On defense,
Leah Dwyer (SR/Glen Cove, NY) totaled team high's in ground balls (six) and caused turnovers (three).
In goal,
Amani Jamal (SO/Hopewell Junction, NY) recorded nine saves and three ground balls.
Up next for the Blue and Orange is a road matchup at Mount Saint Mary College on April 18. That game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
