NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Purchase College first-year student
Julieth Velasquez scored a pair of goals Tuesday night, as the women's lacrosse team fell to Mount Saint Mary College in a Skyline Conference matchup, 22-4.
With the two goals, Velasquez (White Plains, NY) has now scored nine on the season, which ranks second on the team. She also added a team-high four draw controls and a ground ball.
Alyssa Kozak (JR/East Meadow, NY) finished with a goal and three draw controls, while
Brienne Westfall (SR/Grand Island, NY) added a goal and draw control.
Defensively,
Chloe McDonald (SO/Highland Falls, NY) collected a ground ball and caused two turnovers.Â
In goal,
Casandra Schmoger (SR/Islip, NY) recorded a game-high seven ground balls and caused a turnover. She also tallied 12 saves in the effort.
For the Knights, they were dominant from the very beginning. They opened the game with nine-straight goals over the first period, before pushing the lead to 14-2 at halftime.
With the result, the Panthers dropped to 2-8 overall and 0-5 in Skyline Conference games. For the hosts, they improved to 5-8 and 2-3, respectively.
Up next for the Blue and Orange is a road trip to Farmingdale State College, as conference play continues on. That match is set for April 22 at 11:30 a.m.
